Losing a furry friend can be an emotional rollercoaster ride. It can feel like you’ve lost a close confidant who has supported you during tough times. Research shows that the grief associated with the loss of a pet is equivalent to losing a loved one, and it may take a while for the pain to fade away.

Pets have a unique ability to form unbreakable bonds with their owners, offering unwavering love and support without any conditions. We bring you an extraordinary and offbeat tale of a family who experienced a miraculous event when their deceased dog returned to them. Glenn Maloney and his children, Megan and Kevin, were the proud caretakers of Mugsy, a charming canine. Tragedy struck when Mugsy was hit by a car outside Glenn’s girlfriend’s home in Severna Park, MD. Despite Glenn’s desperate efforts to save him, Mugsy passed away, leaving the family devastated by the loss.

PEOPLE reported that Glenn Maloney recounted a heartbreaking incident involving his Jack Russell Terrier, Mugsy. He carried the dog in his arms, but sadly, Mugsy passed away. Glenn checked for any vital signs, but found none, and immediately buried Mugsy to shield his children from seeing their beloved pet’s lifeless body. Later that night, he gathered the courage to inform his kids about Mugsy’s passing, and they held a small ceremony to mourn his loss. The following day, something extraordinary happened. At 5:30 am, they heard scratching at the door, and when Glenn opened it, Mugsy was there, wagging his tail. Glenn and his girlfriend could hardly believe their eyes, and even debated whether it was the same dog they had buried or not.

After closer inspection, it was evident that the tired canine they discovered was no one other than Mugsy. The tiny Jack Russell had obviously undergone a lot of trouble to end up in the condition he was found in. Viola clarified, saying, “Mugsy was extremely dirt-laden and his eyes appeared drained.” Considering the breed’s inherent inclination to dig for foxes, it’s plausible that Mugsy assumed his burial spot was yet another tunnel to explore. Despite facing adversity, he persevered and dug his way out, shocking everyone by escaping his supposed grave.

Upon discovering the missing pup, they swiftly brought him to the vet for a comprehensive check-up. The professionals offered their own insights and theories on the matter, pondering how Mugsy ended up presumed deceased. Viola informed Oprah that according to the vet’s analysis, the canine had probably dug himself out after a six-hour period. His vital signs were extremely faint and sluggish, making it difficult to determine if he was still breathing or not. In fact, he seemed to exhibit no signs of life whatsoever.
