Liz and Ian Finlay, who discovered Nutmeg 26 years ago under a wheelbarrow in their garden, recall the moment they found him. At the time, the kitty was malnourished and had a suspicious lump on his neck.

The Cat Protection League examined him and estimated his age to be at least five years old due to his teeth. However, the couple who rescued him has been taking care of him for 26 years. This feline has become their beloved pet and faithful companion through thick and thin.

About a year ago, there was a moment of panic when Nutmeg suffered a stroke and had to be taken to the animal hospital. The cat’s family was worried about losing their furry companion, but thanks to the dedication of Dr. Laura Gillis and the staff at Westway Veterinary Hospital, Nutmeg made a full recovery. Despite his age, Nutmeg is still as stubborn and feisty as ever, much to the delight of his owners.

Liz and Ian hold their feline companion, who has been with them for over 25 years, dear to their hearts. The cat, in their view, owns them rather than the other way around. Their furry friend’s long life, they believe, is due to his insistence on being the boss.

Scooter is currently holding the title of the Oldest Living Cat in the Guinness record at the age of 30. However, Nutmeg might give Scooter a run for its money as he just turned 31 years old last June.
