A little kitty with calico fur was discovered at a plant nursery, and she’s determined to recover and stand strong once again.

Not too long ago, a distressed message landed in the inbox of Carmen Weinberg, founder of an animal rescue organization. The plea came from a commercial plant nursery situated in Loxahatchee, Florida, where a worker discovered a small calico kitten with an injured paw while moving some planters. The worker immediately sought help from his colleagues in hopes of finding medical care for the poor creature. Elsa, one of the coworkers, frantically reached out to Carmen for assistance as the kitten was crying loudly, audible even over the phone.

Carmen had to travel a distance of about 40 minutes to reach the nursery, as no one else was available to assist her with rescuing the kitten. Upon reaching there, Elsa handed over the kitten to her, which was a calico with a severely damaged right front paw and covered in fleas. Carmen wasted no time and took the kitten to an animal hospital for immediate treatment. While holding the kitten in her lap, Carmen observed that it was quite young with its eyes open but ears still folded.

Toes, the little kitten, experienced two broken toes which had to be surgically removed. The veterinarian who provided her with care gave her the nickname “Toes,” which turned out to be her permanent name.
Carmen, the person who was responsible for Toes, was asked by the vet if she would be willing to bottle-feed the kitten and take her to the hospital every day for bandage changing. Carmen accepted the responsibility with pleasure, as per Love Meow.

Toes, also known as Twinkle Toes, was filled with joy when she found someone to take care of her. She purred incessantly from happiness. Every day, she would make a trip to the hospital to have her paw attended to, and the hospital staff were always thrilled to see her. Even though her paw was in a small cast, Toes refused to be sedentary and instead opted to exercise her legs. She even began exploring the area.

I was surprised by how agile little Toes was. Despite being only a baby, she was quite active and seemed to enjoy being carried around by me. As her recovery progressed over the following weeks, I was delighted to see her become a happy, purring kitten full of energy. It was amazing to watch her grow and thrive.

The calico kitten was full of energy and enthusiasm, always seeking out new toys to play with. Despite a minor injury that prevented her from putting weight on one paw, she remained playful and adventurous, using her leg to grab at objects during playtime. Her friendly demeanor was evident from the moment she saw people, as she would immediately purr and respond to her name. Overall, this sweet kitten brought endless joy and entertainment to those around her.

As soon as Toes grows bigger, her paw will undergo a reassessment to ensure that she can lead a comfortable life as a deserving calico. She loves spending time with other foster kittens and would love to be friends with all of them.
