A Two-Legged Pup’s Journey: Join in the Adventure of Helping Him Thrive

Despite being born without a lower half, this beautiful pup has managed to win over the love and adoration of people all around the globe.

The bulldog named Bonsai, hailing from Fort Worth, Texas, has garnered global attention due to his insurmountable zeal and zest for life. Despite being only six months old, Bonsai was born with multiple atypical abnormalities that resulted in having only half a spine, no pelvis, and small hinder legs.

As a young pup, he had to go through a procedure to amputate both of his hind legs. However, this hasn’t stopped him from living life to the fullest. Unfortunately, he has been diagnosed with several conditions such as Sacral Agenesis, Caudal Regression Syndrome, and Sacrocaudal Dysgenesis. These ailments are believed to be accompanied by Spina Bifida.

Moreover, Bonsai came into this world as a Walrus Pup. This means that he had an excessive amount of fluid in his body, which in combination with his limited hind end mobility resulted in Swimmer’s Syndrome. According to Elizabeth Hart, Bonsai’s owner, Swimmer’s Syndrome is a condition in which the chest of the newborn pup flattens dangerously, causing the legs to spread out to the sides and exert pressure on the internal organs. This information can be found on Bonsai’s fundraising page.

While therapy and time can help cure certain ailments, unfortunately, Bonsai’s deformed spine and pelvis cannot be fixed. This condition is what led to the amputation of Bonsai’s hind legs. To properly manage his conditions, Bonsai will need several thorough examinations of his internal anatomy, which will include costly MRI scans and other intricate imaging treatments.

According to Ms. Hart’s writing, there hasn’t been any recorded case of an animal experiencing the same condition as Bonsai. The next step for Bonsai is to get specially designed wheels that will act as his hind legs, enabling him to move around freely.

Wow, Bonsai has come a long way! Today marks his six-month milestone and we couldn’t be prouder of his courage and tenacity. Ms. Hart shares on Bonsai’s YouCaring page that he has brought so much happiness, positivity, kindness, and humor to those who have been following his journey. He is truly an inspiration to us all.

To our knowledge, there is no previous instance of giving a forecast or outcome for Bonsai. Therefore, we will handle any issues as they arise on a daily basis and address them to the best of our ability.
